About Singapore Syonan gallery To be Renamed- dudunginside.blogspot.com

Tags
Finally our Government took Singaporeans' feedback and decided to rename Syonan gallery to " Surviving the Japanese Occupation: Wars and it's Legacies".

It is heartening to know that our government listen to the people and made the necessary change. I hope those historians who decided to name the gallery be wiser and less insensitive. Some people who are fine with the name Syonan doesn't mean the majority accept it. We do not want Japan to get their way of naming Singapore Syonan-to during world war 2 to be named in this permanent gallery. Syonan-to means Light of the South. But it was a period of darkness and despair in Singapore during World war 2.

Finally I hope those Japanese politicians have the courage to face their past instead of twisting history. I was told by my colleague that in Japan, they could not search Japan role in world war 2 via internet in Japan.  It's sad that their younger generation are not taught of the past and their politicians still pray at the shrine housing those cruel class A war criminals. They should learn from Germany leaders who truly repented and have the courage to face their past. Their younger generation are taught of their roles during world war 2 and taught not to repeat what their earlier generation had done.

About Singapore Syonan Gallery Should be Renamed- dudunginside.blogspot.com

Tags
This blog is meant to introduce my friends and tourists to good food and attractions in Singapore. Hmm I was wondering if I should just start another blog to share my opinions. Well I used to have another blog sharing my opinions but I decided to close as I was in the civil service.

Well I intend to focus on sharing happy stuff and less on serious stuff. But recently, the news of a gallery being named Syonan Gallery just made me angry. How could those people be so insensitive and numbskull to name the gallery Syonan gallery? Singapore was renamed to Syonan-to by the Japanese during World war 2. Syonan-to means The Light of the South. However during the occupation, Singapore residents especially the Chinese suffered immensely. About 50000 Chinese perished during the Sook Ching massacre by the Japanese. It was a period of darkness for Singapore residents. Till now those Japanese politicians still pray at the shrine which housed those class A war criminals and some politicians still denied atrocities committed by them. Well that's why till now I don't travel to Japan. Why fatten those hypocrite politicians' pockets? Syonan-to? Hey they should just renamed to World War 2 occupation gallery. Please don't glorify Japanese occupation. It was anything but Light of the South. It was the darkest period for Singapore residents when many people lost their relatives to the Sook Ching massacre.

About Singapore Yuan Xiao Jie ???2017- dudunginside.blogspot.com

Yesterday my family had a great dinner at home to celebrate Yuan Xiao Jie on the 15th day of Chinese New Year. It is the last day of Chinese New Year and also Chinese Valentine 's day. Although there were not many dishes compared to Chinese New Year eve reunion dinner, we still had about 10 dishes together as a family, my 3 brothers and parents.

As usual, we had abalone, shark fin soup, fish, prawns, ngoh hiang, vegetables , braised pork and this time we tossed Yu sheng with sliced abalone.

This time, I helped my mum in the kitchen. As usual my elder brother helped my mother to cook some of the dishes like the delicious braised pork which was really delicious. As mentioned, my elder brother used to work as a cook in a eatery so the food he cooked is comparable to restaurant standard.

Well with the end of Chinese New Year, it's time to remove the decoration.

About Singapore Mei Heong Yuan Dessert at Chinatown - dudunginside.blogspot.com

After dinner at G7 Liang Kee Restaurant, my relatives treated me Chinese Dessert in Chinatown  Mei Heong Yuan. I enjoyed eating with my relatives as we can share a wide variety of dessert. We had hot dessert like egg pudding with ginger which to me taste like preserved egg. Mango and green tea snow ice are quite ok. I won't say they are impressive because I tasted better snow ice in Taiwan.

They also serve hot Chinese snacks like chee Cheong fun, glutinous rice and yam cake. I prefer their yam and carrot cake as compared to their snow ice.

Recently my generous relatives treated me to a sumptuous dinner at G7 Liang Kee Restaurant Pte Ltd located at Havelock Road. It's a restaurant that serves Teochew food like cold crabs and steamed pomfret and pumpkin yam paste, my favorite dessert!

About Singapore Dahlias at Gardens by the Bay- dudunginside.blogspot.com

From now till 19 Feb, Flower dome at Gardens by the Bay will be transformed to a Chinese garden filled with various dahlias and begonia hybrids.

There are more than 20 dahlia species; some are tubers, round and decorative. These 3000 pots of dahlias will be shown in rotation during the show. Besides the three-tiered pagoda, there is also a pond, lanterns and various Roosters sculptures in this Spring theme.

So if you love to admire beautiful flowers like dahlias and begonia, come down to flower dome soon.
