About Singapore Invest Fair 2016- dudunginside.blogspot.com

Finally I met one of my idols at Invest Fair held at Suntec City. The legendary investment expert Jim Rogers, who co-founded Quantum Fund with George Soros was the key-note speaker for yesterday event. I woke up early to listen to his speech which started at 10.30am. Alas, there were many people attending his talk and all the seats were filled at the centre stage so I had to stand at the side but the sound system was bad and I could hardly hear what he said except he talked about agriculture and China.

Fortunately in the afternoon, Jim Rogers with three other investment experts like Roger Montgomery, Song Seng Wun (Straits Times like to seek his views on economy) and Chan Kum Kong from Singapore Stock Exchange shared their views in the Market Outlook 2017-Opportunities and Risks at 3pm. To secure the seat at the centre stage, I waited for the event at 2.30pm. This time, the sound system is much better. Well it seem like most of them are quite pessimistic with 2017 to 2018. Cheap stocks could be cheaper. It seems many are still cautiously optimistic. Nevertheless, Arnold Gay asked what advice would they would give to young people, Jim Rogers gave 2 advices. He advised young people to save money and be farmer. He also shared it would be important to be able to converse in Mandarin. He emphasized China Mandarin and not Singapore Mandarin since most Singaporean Chinese mix Mandarin with English.

He believe the 21st century will be the century of China. I brought his three books like Street Smarts: Adventures on the Road and in the Markets, A Bull in China and Adventure Capitalist. So far I only completed reading Street Smarts and he shared that his daughter started learning Mandarin when she was young. Now her daughter who is enrolled in Nanyang Primary School, a school that is strongly rooted in traditional Chinese values and cultures, is very fluent in Mandarin. In the morning, he showed a video of his daughter speaking Mandarin.

Jim Rogers is now residing in Singapore as most Singaporeans Chinese speak English and Mandarin and he want his two daughters to be conversant in both English and Mandarin.
Jim Roger is deep in thought.

About Singapore Singapore Night Light Festival- dudunginside.blogspot.com

The annual night light festival will be back at Bras Basah on 19, 20, 26 and 27 August. Be dazzled by the light arts performances and sculptures. Last year when my cousin and I attended this free event, we had to jostle our way to various light arts performances as road was congested with people. We were just surrounded by so many people with hardly breathing space. I'm not exaggerating, both locals and tourists were there to enjoy the free events. Singapore is a small island of 700km square yet there are 5 million locals and residents. I do hope there be more security in this public event.

Date: 19, 20, 26 and 27 Aug (both Fri and Sat)
TIme: 7.30pm to 2am.

About Singapore Salted Egg Yolk Craze in Singapore!- dudunginside.blogspot.com

My first favourite salted egg york dish is Liu sha bao or salted egg yolk custard bun in Dim Sum restaurant. Now you can see salted egg yolk dish every where in Singapore. Instead of naming it salted egg yolk, they call it the Golden Lava. Now you can find golden lava croissant, golden lava cheese tart, salted egg yolk burger by McDonald. Even Fish & Co restaurant has jumped onto the Golden Lava bandwagon. They are now offering Golden lava prawns and Fish & Chip!

After praying at Kuan Yin temple at Waterloo street yesterday, I decided to try the new prawns deluxe aka salted egg yolk prawns at Bugis shopping mall. Well, I ordered too many dishes at Fish & Co since I last eaten in February when my cousin treated me to my favourite Seafood Feast there for my birthday. I'm quite happy with their revamped menu which includes caesar salad with tamago egg. Total cost of the meal is  $52.73 which includes 10% service charge and 7% GST. Well I didn't really use cash to pay for it but the cost was offset as my membership card still has $108 credit in it. Hmm, end of the year, I'm going to Fish & Co again. This time with my friend or cousins.
Premium fish and chips filled with golden salted egg at $18.95. I love their crispy fish & chips.
I had Salmon with Citrus crust with mushroom cream ($19.95). I always add chopped garlic and mix the paella rice with coleslaw. Yummy!
Caesar salad with tamago at $9.95. I love their new menu which includes caesar salad though I find it pricey for vegetables and eggs. But once in a while, I like to pamper myself with my favourite food. :)
I also top up with cheese baked scallop ($5.95)
Salted egg yolk prawns deluxe ($8.95) is quite tasty. Eat when it is hot and crispy.
I like their Bugis restaurant design. Guess I love wood design as it gives warm feeling and makes me happy. Hmm, next time my home will have lots of wood furniture and wall design.

About Singapore Yummy Desserts at Honeymoon Dessert at Ion Orchard- dudunginside.blogspot.com

One of the main reasons why I go to Ion Orchard shopping mall is to satisfy my craving for double-boiled milk with walnut and almond dessert, follow by a trip to the bookshop at Ngee Ann City. The silky smooth dessert with crunchy almond and walnut just makes me happy. Hmm, maybe next week I go to Ion Orchard to have my favourite dessert!

About Singapore First Singaporean Selected in Sing!China - dudunginside.blogspot.com

Finally a Singaporean is chosen in the prestigious Sing!China, formally known as Voice of China. Talented Chinese singers from around the world participate in this competitive singing competition in China. In the past Malaysian and Thai Chinese were selected. It made me wonder when there be a Singaporean in the show.  What is amazing is all four judges want Nathan Hartono to be part of their teams. In the end, Nathan chose Jay Chou, Mando King of Pop to be his mentor. Wise choice I must say since Jay Chou is gifted in music composing and his partner Fang Wen San is talented in Chinese lyrics.

About Singapore Peach Garden Noodles House- dudunginside.blogspot.com

After admiring beautiful flowers at Flower dome, if you love Chinese food, Peach Garden Noodle House is a great Chinese restaurant serving delicious Chinese food like dim sum, and fried noodles, fried rice and wanton noodles. A bowl of noodles cost about $9.00. This place is highly recommended for great Chinese food.

 Fried prawn dumpling
Claypot laksa about ($13). I don't like tau pok or fried beancurd so gave it to my cousin. I still think the yong tau foo laksa which cost only $5.10 near my home is more delicious.
This bowl looks like a spoon. My cousin had wanton noodle soup.

Fried radish cake about $11. The service staff highly recommend their popular dish and indeed, it didn't disappoint us.

About Singapore Chai Tow Kway aka Fried Carrot Cake- dudunginside.blogspot.com

One of my favourite breakfast dish is Chai Tow Kway also known as fried carrot cake. It is a popular Teochew cuisine. It comes in two version; black which is doused with black soya sauce and is sweeter compared to the white version. I prefer white chai tow kway. My favourite stall is the one at Tampines round market at Blk 139.
